Our Philosophy

Our approach is built on a strong foundation of values that guide our daily practice, relationship, and commitment to every child and family.

PROGRAM
PROGRAM

Our program is child-centred, responsive, and informed by an emergent curriculum that values children’s interests, strengths, and ideas. Drawing on Reggio Emilia principles, we see the environment as the third teacher and design learning spaces that invite curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and deep thinking. Educators use intentional teaching to extend learning through meaningful interactions. Informed by Vygotsky’s theory, learning is supported through collaboration, shared thinking, and scaffolding within children’s social and learning contexts.

CHILDREN
CHILDREN

We view children as confident, capable learners who construct knowledge through relationships and experiences. Children are encouraged to express their ideas, make choices, and participate in decision-making, supporting agency and autonomy. Through Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, we acknowledge that children’s learning and wellbeing are influenced by their family, culture, and community. Learning environments reflect children’s identities and promote a strong sense of belonging.

CHILD SAFETY
CHILD SAFETY

The safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We maintain a strong child-safe culture through effective supervision, child protection practices, and ongoing educator training. Children are supported to understand their rights, personal boundaries, and respectful relationships in a safe and trusting environment. Strong partnerships with families support children’s emotional and physical safety.

FAMILIES
FAMILIES

We recognise families as children’s first and most influential teachers and value their knowledge, perspectives, and aspirations. In line with Bronfenbrenner’s theory, we acknowledge that strong connections between home, service, and community are essential for children’s learning and development. We foster respectful, collaborative partnerships with families through open communication, shared decision-making, and meaningful involvement in the program. Families are encouraged to contribute their culture, traditions, and feedback to enrich the learning environment and support continuity between home and care.

EDUCATORS

Our educators are reflective, committed professionals who play a vital role in creating safe, engaging, and responsive learning environments. Guided by Reggio Emilia principles, educators view themselves as researchers and co-learners, continuously reflecting on practice to improve outcomes for children.

We support ongoing professional learning, collaboration, and reflective practice to ensure educators remain informed, skilled, and confident in child safety, pedagogy, and inclusive practice. A strong, supportive team culture enables educators to thrive personally and professionally while maintaining high standards of care and education.

COMMUNITY

We value strong connections with our local community. We believe learning is enriched through relationships beyond the service, and we actively engage with community organisations, cultural groups, and local services. Partnerships with community services and local schools enhance children’s learning and support positive transitions to school.

SUSTAINABILITY

We believe children are active citizens with the capacity to care for the environment. Sustainability is embedded into our daily practices through gardening, recycling, composting, and meaningful conversations about caring for the natural world.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia’s respect for nature and materials, children are encouraged to explore, question, and develop responsibility for the environment. These experiences foster environmental awareness, critical thinking, and a sense of shared responsibility for the future.
